The Mandoleers* -

A Mandolin and Guitar Orchestra

in the Finest American Tradition performing in the Washington D.C. Area.

Founded in 1923 in Takoma Park MD as "The Takoma Mandoleers" and Rehearsing and Performing every year since then.

In Memoriam: this Web site is dedicated to the memory of Norman Levine, who died on December 7, 2007. He founded the Classical Mandolin Society and the Plucked String Foundation and was instrumental in advancing the cause of classical-style playing of the mandolin.

Rehearsal Details: We rehearse almost every Tuesday night at the Clarendon United Methodist Church in Arlington Virginia (near the Clarendon Metro stop.) Directions are below:

Directions from Route 66, please go Here

Directions from Route 50, please go Here

There is no requirement to audition. Reading music is helpful, but if you don't read music, bring a recording device. (That's what I did for 2 years!)

Interested in Learning Mandolin?

Finding a mandolin instructor who will teach the American/Classical method is not easy. There are less than half a dozen in the Greater Washington DC area. The Mandoleers have two teachers who MAY be able to take on more students. Each of them will have to respond individually as to their availability. Please visit Lesson Details

Calendar of Events

We are working on the material for recording a CD. No concerts are scheduled at this time.
